JFIF to JPG Converter

Saved an image and got a .jfif file that a website or app refuses? JFIF is simply a JPEG with a different extension. Convert it to a normal .jpg here – one file or many at once – right in your browser.

Files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our server. Privacy

How to use the JFIF to JPG

  1. Add one or more .jfif files.
  2. JPG is preselected. Keep the quality at 90–100% for no visible quality loss.
  3. Press “Convert” and download the .jpg files, or “Download All” as a ZIP.

What is a JFIF file?

JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format) is the original container for JPEG images. Windows sometimes saves images from Chrome, Edge or WhatsApp Web with the .jfif extension. The picture inside is a normal JPEG, but many upload forms only check the extension and reject anything that is not .jpg or .jpeg.

Why convert instead of renaming?

Renaming .jfif to .jpg often works, but on phones the extension may be hidden, and some files carry unusual metadata. Converting creates a clean, standard JPG that opens everywhere and strips location metadata at the same time.

Stop Windows saving images as JFIF

Windows decides the extension using a registry setting for the image/jpeg type. The simplest fix is to convert files here when needed; changing the registry is possible but not necessary for most people.

Frequently asked questions

Is JFIF the same as JPG?

The image data is the same JPEG format; only the file extension and header label differ. Converting gives you a standard .jpg file.

Will converting JFIF to JPG reduce quality?

At 90–100% quality the difference is not visible. Keep the slider high if you want the closest match.

Can I convert many JFIF files at once?

Yes. Add them all and download a single ZIP file.

Does it work on Android and iPhone?

Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, choose the files and download the JPG versions.
